I often get asked what defines a great leader and how will we know if a team is working optimally. Much has been written about the former point of leadership, but less about the signs of a great team. Therefore I dedicate this blog to this topic with 3 simple milestones on what great teamwork feels and looks like.

Milestone 1: Trust and Respect

A group becomes a team when each member is sure enough of himself and his contribution to praise the skills of the others. ~ Norman Shidle

Yoga, Meditation and the Breath

I started noticing my breath consciously when learning yoga – at the physically demanding ashtanga courses I took in my early 20s, the seemingly simple yet demanding hatha yoga I soon loved since my mid 20s, the hot and sweaty bikram yoga that motivated me in my early 30s, the iyenga and vinyasa yoga teacher’s certification I received in my mid 30s and now, being in my last year of 30s, I simply practice yoga – doesn’t matter the style of yoga, I just get on my mat and focus on the breath.

Oh the blame game… keeping us alive and ticking when something doesn’t go our way. How the drama unfolds with different backdrops, props and cast involved. The director in us framing it just how we want it because we can, because it’s all in our head.

There, I said it “It’s all in our head.” Our perception is our reality and how we choose to react or act then often becomes THE reality.

This advice is for anyone who writes. Yes, you who’s busy writing that presentation, your blog, the article, this life’s dissertation, an email response, a song, those facebook updates and photo album title…
